MORELOS, MEXICO—Excavations at the foot of El Tlatoani hill in southern Mexico have revealed the grave of a decapitated warrior and a kiln dating between 350 and 600 A.D. The warrior’s remains showed signs of wounds that had healed, including a head injury. He had been buried with earflaps and a green stone beaded necklace. “Given the qualities of his funerary attire and the location of his burial, we can deduce he was part of the eilite of Tlayacapense society during his life,” said archaeologist Raul Francisco Gonzalez Quesada of the National Institute of Anthropology and History.
