COUNTY DOWN, NORTHERN IRELAND—A bracelet-shaped piece of metal retrieved from a freshly plowed field has been determined to be Viking silver dating to between the tenth and twelfth centuries. The ring was found by David Taylor, who was helping his brother-in-law remove stones from his field when he spotted the ring. “I just knew by the shape of it, it was something,” Taylor said. The ring was found near a medieval church where it may have been stored as an item of value.
