ISRAEL—Tens of thousands of documents related to the excavation of Akko and Jerusalem between 1919 and 1948 are now available for online research. Many of these documents were written in English. The Israel Antiquities Authority is continuing to scan archival material, including texts, photographs, and maps, in order to make them available to scholars and the general public. “The scientific importance of the archive is invaluable, and it is the only one of its kind in Israel and the world,” said Uzi Dahari, deputy director of the Israel Antiquities Authority.
