Rock art from the Andean site of Rocotuyoc in Peru dates to around A.D. 1000, and shows humans interacting with domesticated camelids, as well as abstract symbols.

Archaeologists excavate the 2,300-year-old shaft grave of a young woman along Via Hebron on the southern outskirts of Jerusalem, Israel.
A rock art panel (top) engraved with almost 300 animal track engravings was recently discovered in Namibia’s Doro! Nawas Mountains. The carvings can be made out more easily in a version of the image (above) that has been digitally enhanced.
