REGGIO CALABRIA, ITALY—Students from Argentina and Italy have uncovered a section of mosaic depicting dragons and dolphins in the town of Monasterace. “The discovery is of extraordinary importance because it is the largest Hellenic mosaic of Magna Grecia,” said archaeologist Francesco Cuteri. Last year, Cuteri uncovered several panels of the mosaic that include a dragon, a rosette, and six floral motifs. He thinks there are at least two more panels to be found. “We have worked on this excavation for 15 years and now what emerges fills us with joy,” he added.
