INVERNESS, SCOTLAND—BBC News reports that traces of postholes from 16 prehistoric roundhouses and a palisade were uncovered during an investigation conducted ahead of construction of a new prison in northeastern Scotland by members of AOC Archaeology Group. Clay molds and copper-alloy material may have been used for making swords at the site some 3,000 years ago. Stone whetstones for sharpening tools, querns for grinding grain, pottery, and worked flint were also uncovered.
