Coptic Icons Seized at Cairo Airport

CAIRO, EGYPT—Customs officials seized three ancient Coptic Christian icons at the Cairo airport. The parcel was headed to the United States, but the intercepted icons were rerouted to the Ministry of Antiquities. According to Ahmed al-Rawy, head of the Central Administration of Archaeological Units, two of the icons were made of wood. The third was made of metal and placed in a wooden frame.
