HAVANA, CUBA—Cuban archaeologists are putting the finishing touches on a census of the country's ancient history that has so far identified 3,200 prehistoric sites. Among the sites archaeologists have included in the comprehensive list are ceremonial caves, shell workshops, rock art panels, and burials. Agriculture did not come to the island until the second century B.C., but the archaeological record shows humans were living on the island long before that, perhaps as early as between 8,000 and 10,000 years ago.
