Peru Toro Muerto Rock Art
An example of rock art from the site of Toro Muerto in southern Peru includes depictions of dancing figures known as danzantes alongside zigzag lines, which researchers suggest, represent songs.
Greece Philippi Apollo Sculpture
A marble head depicting the Apollo, the Greek god of music and the sun, was recently found at the site of Philippi in northern Greece.

Iraq Rabana Merquly Altar
A sculpture carved in a niche at the fortress sanctuary of Rabana-Merquly in Iraqi Kurdistan, which dates to around 2,000 years ago, is believed to be a fire altar.
Canada Quebec City Coffin
A coffin in a nineteenth-century cemetery in Quebec City was found to contain logs in place of a body. Archaeologists believe the corpse was illegally removed from the coffin so it could be used by medical students for the study of human anatomy.
Turkey Bonkuclu Tarla Bead Image
A photograph and illustration show the location of artifacts close to a deceased person’s ear and mouth, indicating the objects were used to pierce flesh.
